Laboratory Upgrade at State Specialist Hospital Akure
In partial fulfillment of our commitment to the provision of health care to the economically disadvantaged, the laboratory of the State Specialist Hospital in Akure was recently upgraded and commissioned. The main objective of the programme was to upgrade the hospital's laboratory by automating some of the processes as well as the provision of training and enhancement of management systems.
This was achieved through the donation of the following equipment:
- Hematology analyser (hycel 9000)
- Clinical chemistry autoanalyser
- Electrolyte analyser
- Blood gas analyser
- Water deioniser
- Inverter + 10 batteries& battery rack
- Generator (petrol)- 1 unit
- Air conditioners- 3 split units
- Desktop computer
- Internet provision
Through the supply of the equipment, the hospital has been able to enhance the diagnostic and therapeutic support to patient management, reduce number of patients referred elsewhere from the laboratory, produce same day results for most hematology/ clinical chemistry tests, keep the price of tests to the patients at current or even lower levels and ultimately increase the capacity of the laboratory in the areas of hematology and clinical chemistry.
